Occupational Therapy Consulting, LLC offers classes and workshops as a way to enhance the complement of services available in the community.

Most classes and workshops are a small interactive group format and are designed to offer participants an opportunity to practice needed skills. Classes are not intended to replace therapy but are intended to be a fun way of practicing activities that can be challenging for clients and homework is given after most classes so parents have a way to help their child continue the practice of that skill at home.

Classes range in topic from learning to tie shoes, to handwriting, to brushing teeth, but may also include more broad social skills like making friends, asking for help, and learning to take turns. Classes are offered on weekends and evenings, typically last 30-45 minutes and the topics available vary from month to month. Some classes are offered as a series so participants have a chance to develop their skills in a certain area, whereas others are offered as a one-time rotating topic so that anyone can join the class at any time, on a first-come-first-serve basis. Finally, all classes are designed to be affordable and because we appreciate the busy lives that parents and families have, they are intended to require as little commitment as possible. Preregistration IS required but if you can only make one class a month, then that's all you sign up for. Parents can pick and choose the topic that best suits their child!

Workshops are offered to parents and professionals because we believe education is a key part of effective therapy. The more information and knowledge significant others have, the easier it is for them to support, and facilitate optimal success for their child. Thus, OTC offered workshops to parents, other providers and community agencies such as mom's groups, schools and preschools, and non-profit groups. Cost of workshops varies depending on the topic, size, and purpose of the workshop. Please contact us for more information about speaking engagements or view our registration page for more details about upcoming parent workshops!

We look forward to learning with you!

"If someone had told me our lives could be like this, I wouldn't have believed them. I see a 180 degree difference in [our daughter], since we started therapy. I can't thank Kelly enough for what she has given our family." — Mom to 7 y.o. girl post international adoption —
"You are the first person who has given us some answers and told us what to do." — Dad to 7 y.o. boy with learning disability —
"You helped me to "understand" [my son]. As a parent we may look at therapy as a way to fix our children. I'm sure that is why we originally came, but along the way I realized that understanding and learning how to support [our son] were more important than just a "fix"." — Mom to 8 y.o. boy with learning disability —
"Thank you for giving us our little boy back." — Mom to 3 y.o. boy with brain injury —
